Kevin Kietzman Has Issues

   It's time to change the name of ICE to NICE and President Trump seems to be on board to cap off a busy day at the White House.  First, it was the return of the Presidential Fitness test for American kids, then Marco Rubio just crushed it filling in for White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.  All this... and Michelle Obama has a plan for her husband that I'm all in on.
   There's enough signatures in Alberta, Canada to put secession on the ballot in October as that province considers leaving Canada.
   The Royals are the hottest team in the American League winning 5 in a row and 9 of 11 to essentially be tied for first place.  You've got to be kidding me.
   A vice president of the NFL in charge of scheduling makes it sounds like he's going to do a huge favor for the Chiefs early in the season.  A former KU star is now the mayor of a town in Texas.  Fox Sports wants to hire somebody to watch every game in the World Cup, Mark Cuban fesses up to paying millions to football players at Indiana University and the Met Gala is a circus.

   President Trump hosted a small business event at the White House Monday and one of the businesses featured was Slap's BBQ in KCK.  Joe Pearce, the owner, was there with staff.  The president was a little bit interested in the various sauces but mostly just asked the Slap's boys if Patrick Mahomes was going to be ok and start the season in week one.  This is so good.
   A national hotel association says World Cup bookings are a disaster nationwide and KC is the worst of the worst.  Not only are 650k people not coming to KC... regular summer visitors are AVOIDING KC because of the World Cup.  Dang, if only a local podcaster could have warned officials this would happen.
   A pair of drivers at Central Bank in Sugar Creek got quite a scare when the roof collapsed above them.
   The Royals beat the Guardians with another great looking game, 6-2,  and have now won 8 out of 10.
   The Chiefs sign 3 players out of 108 that tried out at Rookie Mini Camp... all at positions of need.  The Dallas Cowboys take an off season wedding photo for the ages and Stephen A Smith welcomes back an old partner this week at ESPN.

   Trump the pragmatist is our lead at KKHI as he's come up with yet another possible solution to a real problem.  It's called Project Freedom and it basically means we are going to safeguard ships for passage in the Strait of Hormuz.  Trump is a fixer, no doubt.  We revisit at column written over 8 years ago that recognized how his presidency works.
   The prez was in Flroida this weekend at the PGA Tour event at his course, Trump Doral.   The winner got a big thumbs up, the president had dinner with all the players and some unruly dude on the course got booted.  Just another Sunday in Trump world.

   It sounds more and more like President Trump is finished talking with Iran, battling media in America reporting we're losing and hearing leaders in Europe say the USA is boxed in.  Itchy trigger finger?  I'm guessing.  And it now may involve something called a "Dark Eagle" missile that is devastating.  If they won't end the nuclear program, Trump believes you gotta take them out and try talking to some new leaders.
   The president is also livid with the Senate here at home over the Save America Act.... really, really livid.
  Pastor Adam announces he's running against Roger Marshall for Senator from Kansas.  I only credit him with one thing... he came out of the closet to become a democrat.   Wait until you hear a pathetic interview he did with a college student a couple weeks ago about issues.  This man belongs in a church, not DC.
   CNN reports the black vote in America has moved to the right even more, and likely for good.
   We have a great Chiefs rookie draft story about the first text he got after he got off the phone with Andy Reid on draft night.  Patriots fans have long forgiven their coach Mike Vrabel and we have a horse to root for in the Kentucky Derby Saturday that sounds like a favorite of any Chiefs/Travis Kelce fan.

   Chief Justice John Roberts most famous quote is, "The way to stop discrimination on the basis of race is to stop discriminating on the basis of race."  And boy, oh boy, did the Supreme Court back that up in a big way with a 6-3 decision that ends the ability to redraw congressional district lines to give extra benefits to people based on their race.  This is big.... and corrects a decades old problem of turning the other cheek to "reverse racism."

   And it's two Kings week in DC but there's another king making a comeback in America.  The story of two CEO's of burger giants McDonalds and Burger King and what has happened to their sales figures after a couple viral moments caught on tape.

   The Royals are still a million miles from being the team they need to be to win their division but after winning 5 of 6, the are suddenly only 2.5 games out of first.  Bobby Witt Jr's 10th inning, three run homer gets it done on the first game of the road trip to get the team, ugh, within 5 games of .500.
   Chiefs rookie mini camp just means more this year as so many of these players will be expected to learn and learn fast.  The goal?  Turn these rookies into veterans after 8 games or so this fall.  Meanwhile, Andy Reid is raising money by cooking burgers and bras with his wife to benefit the Harris-Kearney House Museum in Westport.  He will cook for you if you buy a ticket at www.westporthistoricalkc.org. 
  KU hoops will not be outspent, for the second year in a row they've bought the #1 NBA prospect in the land.  At the same time, reports surface the NCAA tourney will expand to 76 teams next year in the worst sports decision of all time.  The worst.
   The White House couldn't wait to post a photo of President Trump and King Charles with a really simple caption: "Two Kings."  It's driving the left crazy.  The DOJ goes after James Comey again, Jimmy Kimmel is reportedly in big trouble at ABC and a study from Saint Louis University reports young black people are leaving KC and St. Louis in droves.
  Our Final Final is a former Chiefs player talking about seeing his coach snorting cocaine in the football offices.

   It was just a dream I had... and it's already gone.  The left won't back down from challenging their pawns to radicalize and try to kill President Trump.  How can this be good for their party?  Surely America sees one party is for violence and death and the other is not.  But not minority speaker Hakeem Jeffries, no, he's doubling down on his "warfare" comments and telling critics to shut up.
  Barack Obama could sure help by asking Jeffries and others to cool it down but that isn't going to happen.  Or, Obama could make a powerful statement that this isn't the way to advance the Democrat party.  That won't happen either.  If the dems win in November it appears we can never have Trump and JD Vance in public in the same place at the same time.  Hakeem Jeffries would be president if both were killed at an event like Saturday night.  And don't think the democrats don't dream of that.
  Ron DeSantis is jumping into the gerrymander game in Florida to counter Virginia's temporary constitutional amendment. Oh, brother.
   In sports, the Royals are only 3.5 games out of first place after a miracle win and sweep of the Angels.
  We catch up with Stan Weber to get his thoughts on the Chiefs top draft picks and the new Royals ballpark at Crown Center.  The Red Sox fire 6 coaches in hilarious fashion and the wedding industry is booming.  But now, there is a better reason than ever to NOT spend big on the bride's big day.

   As yet another crazy man with unhinged writings filled threats tried to kill President Trump, the White House Assistant to the President and Staff Secretary Will Scharf was on stage speaking in Kansas City.
   Scharf's alert on his White House phone sounded like a fire alarm and I should know.  I was on stage with him at the Clay County Republicans Dinner at Harrah's hosting a question and answer session.  It was a surreal moment and we have it on tape for you.
  Also, the Chiefs crush in the NFL draft improving the talent on the defensive side of the ball in dramatic fashion.  The Chiefs are telling us something in their rebuild... we should listen.
  Then, which political party is  supported most by NFL owners?

   The bold Chiefs do it again moving up from the 9th pick to number 6 to draft the "smooth" Monsoor Delane out of LSU.  This gifted corner is expected to be a much more impactful corner than Trent McDuffie and will save the team $80 million over the next four years versus their former CB1.  And wait until you hear him.  He's got natural leader written all over him.  Long gone are the days of sitting and just drafting the highest rated player on the board.  These championship caliber Chiefs are relentless in getting the player they need.  And they did it again.
   Delane was surprised and thrilled but the second happiest man Thursday was defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo who had a rough off season watching his player let go to make more money elsewhere.
   KU is borrowing even more money to run their athletics department and it feels more and more like how DC works.

   I am so proud to be a Kansas Citian on this day and can't believe I have the privilege to share it with all of you through a microphone.  The Royals have topped the Chiefs.  Missouri has topped Kansas.  Now, 2.5 million of us are all better for it.  I am truly stunned our area gets so many things right now after spending decades watching cheap owners repaint and spend money on useless renovations.  Hello Super Bowl!  Hello Crown Center's golden era.  It's time to shut up the complaining as the Royals did the unthinkable.  The took less money than Kansas offered to stay in KC and do something great for our city.  Quite a change from the David Glass and Lamar Hunt eras.  Wow.
   A tip of the cap to Don Hall and the Hall family as it sounds like this was pretty much their idea.  It keeps their family's legacy project and helps them to continue something we love. Hallmark cards are about connection with friends and family and Hallmark Channel is one of the last places that's truly good, old fashioned family programming from an age gone by.  You see, some things are just too important to change.  Way to go.
